Get to Know Me
As a neonatologist, my job is providing the best and most up-to-date care for sick babies. They are the reason I am also a scientist, conducting research in the laboratory to discover new treatments for neonatal diseases that don鈥檛 yet have a cure. I was born and raised in India and moved to the United States several years ago.

Why I Treat Children
I love babies and children. I feel like I鈥檓 treating the whole family when I help its most important member get well. And I love the challenges of working in a complex, constantly evolving field like pediatrics.

What I'm Passionate About
Research into neonatal lung disease and translating the findings into medical practice to improve health outcomes. I study bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a chronic lung disease usually found in preemies or underweight full-term infants, and pulmonary hypertension, which happens when a newborn fails to transition to normal heart-lung circulation.

How I Try to Make A Difference
My research background helps me to think critically and be a better doctor. So many new things are coming up every day that can lead to better treatments. I believe in evidence-based medicine and family-centered care, and I use it in my practice.
